Scott Craig is a qualified FGAA gemmologist, and the manager of JVC Valuers Auckland office. He also assists with practical tuition of students studying gemmology in New Zealand. He has been a committee member of the Jewellery Valuers Society of New Zealand for a number of years and is currently the society's Chairman.
An interesting item Scott dealt with was a commission by RNZAF pilots to make gold lapel pins for their dress uniforms. This required Scott to hand carve wax models of the newly purchased Skyhawk planes from photographs and plans. Although the finished gold pins were the size of a thumbnail, they had to be exactly to scale with details of markings on the fuselage added by hand. Unlike the real planes, it is believed that the gold miniatures have retained their value.

Graham Oliver. Manager of our Wellington office, Graham began as an apprentice jeweller in his family Jewellery business. Here he gained experience in all aspects of the trade - manufacturing, wholesale and retail, but always did some valuing and enjoyed it.
Now also fully qualified as a Gemmologist, Diamond Grader and Valuer, Graham brings a wealth of jewellery knowledge to JVC Valuers.
A special piece he remembers valuing was an exquiste Russian 18ct gold brooch with a 35 carat Emerald. As well as being beautifully made it had a fascinating history as it was reportedly smuggled out of Russia after the Revolution
